


Jolly Good Food
In the late 1960s a French writer called Georges Perec wrote an entire novel without using the letter ‘e’. The book – called La Disparition – has been translated into German and English, also without using the letter ‘e’.
We thought of Georges when we were setting up the Jolly Good Food Company. Not because we want to publish French novels, but because there are no ‘e’s in our name. And that was important to us – we like to use as few E-numbers as possible in our food, and we wanted our name to reflect that.
Not being literary types like Georges, we find Es quite useful when it comes to writing about the Jolly Good Food Company and our range of foods. Words like ‘wholesome’, ‘simple’, ‘healthy’, ‘pure’, ‘fresh’, ‘delicious’, and ‘ethical’ just wouldn’t be the same if they lost their Es. So, we’ve kept the Es on the packaging, and tried to exclude them from the products themselves. To us, it seems like the perfect combination …
